Το πρώτο επαγγελματικής χρήσης κτίριο με μηδενική εκπομπή ρύπων και λειτουργία βασισμένη απόλυτα σε ανανεώσιμες πηγές ενέργειας, παρουσίασε σήμερα η Νότια Κορέα. Το έκτασης 2.500 τετραγωνικών μέτρων κτίριο που φιλοξενεί επιχειρήσεις, στο Ίντσιον, έξω από την πρωτεύουσα Σεούλ, κόστισε οκτώ εκατομμύρια δολάρια και εκμεταλλεύτηκε κάθε είδους τεχνολογία αιχμής προκειμένου να έχει το μίνιμουμ δυνατό αποτύπωμα στο περιβάλλον. Korean Village Runs On 100% Solar Power

The Korean village Donggwang gets 100% of its power from the sun. The village is located on the semi-tropical island of Jeju-do. The village’s forty houses and the school all have large solar panels covering their roofs. A typical roof will have a two kilowatt solar installation. In 2004, the government subsidized the solar systems in Donggwang, paying 70% of the installation fees. Read more...

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea has for the first time bought genetically-modified corn for food, risking a backlash from consumer groups to secure cheaper grains.
On Tuesday South Korea, one of only two countries in Asia to stick with more expensive non-GMO corn for food use, said it will import 50,000 tons of U.S. genetically-altered corn in May for manufacturing starch and sweeteners. Read more...
