The Danish city of Copenhagen has won the European Green Capital Award for 2014. Copenhagen was chosen for its achievements in "eco-innovation and sustainable mobility," for being a role model for the green economy in Europe and for engaging its citizens to feel they are part of the green solution. Denmark tops first-of-its-kind Global Cleantech Innovation Index

Denmark, followed by Israel, Sweden, Finland and the US provide the best conditions today for clean technology start-up creation, with companies in the Asia Pacific region following closely behind when it comes to commercial success, the first Global Cleantech Innovation Index shows.

Denmark's approves 400 MW offshore windmill park

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - Denmark's parliament on Monday approved the construction of a 400 megawatt (MW) offshore wind turbine park in the Kattegat arm of the North Sea between Jutland and the island of Anholt in 2012. "The park will be the biggest offshore park in Denmark and provide electricity for about 400.000 homes," the Danish climate and energy ministry said in a statement. Read more...
