WASHINGTON -- The American bald eagle, pushed to near-extinction in the United States by the pesticide DDT, is now recovered and will be removed from the endangered species list, the U.S. Interior Secretary said yesterday. The bird's numbers have soared to 10,000 nesting pairs since it was added to the endangered species list in 1963. Read more...
